In memory of our little angel Beth

I went for my second scan at 22 weeks on Friday the 7th of November 2003, we had planned to go and
pick a cot that afternoon and other things we would need, but during the scan the sonographer was
having trouble and said she could not see the babys spine and maybe the baby was laying to far down,
i was asked to go away and have a walk around and see if the baby moved, but after several attempts
i was then taken into another room to see a doctor by this time we were getting really worried and
it was getting late well into the late afternoon,there a different scan was done then we were told
that our baby had spina-bifida and i was expecting a little girl, and that she was severley brain
damaged and they told us that she wouldnt survive the rest of the pregnancy as preasure on her
brain was building up rapidly and she was paralised from the chest down.This came as a terrible
shock as i had had all the blood tests for spina- bifida,which had all came back clear, over the
next week i had second opinions and scans but they all agreed that Beth as we had now decided to
name her was one of the most severe cases of spina bifida that they had seen in several years. I was
induced on the 16th November and my baby girl arrived at 10:27pm after 10 hours of labour she was
just the most beautiful little girl i had ever seen, she was just 11inches and weighed just 1lb1oz
she was just so tiny my mum and dad and brothers all came in to see her.Then her daddy and i spent
the night with her, the next day my nanna came up to see Beth as she was holding her she said see
you soon baby, and 7 weeks later she passed away and i know she is now taking care of her for me, we
went home later that day, it was so awful going home without her,i just felt so empty, they had a
really nice room at the hospital were we could visit her over the next few days.We held Beths
funeral on the 24th november. Beth was my 1st child my partner already had 4 sons from a previous
relationship. It was just so heartbreaking you think at the time that its only you but then you
realise so many others are suffering the same. i have now had another baby girl in 2005 called
millie-lou, she knows she has a sister up in heaven, and we will never stop loving her or forget her
she will be forever in our hearts our little angel watching over us all.Safe in the arms of my
nanna.

who means the world to me
She's living with the Angels
and is as special as can be
And even though she's up there,
playing in the clouds
She's still my precious Grandaughter
and I am so very proud
I know I can not hold her,
or bounce her on my knee
But only have to close my eyes,
her little face to see
I never will stop missing her
and wishing she were here
But sometimes I feel, indeed I know
that she is very near

My mum is a survivor
My mum is a suvivor or so i've heard it said
But i can hear her crying at night when all others are in bed.
I watch her lay awake at night and go to hold her hand
She doesn't know I'm with her to help her understand.
But like the sands on the beach that never wash away....
I watch over my surviving mum who thinks of me each day.
She wears a smile for others a smile of disguise
But through heavens door i see tears flowing from her eyes.
My mum trys to cope with death to keep my memory alive
But anyone who knows her that his her way to survive
As i watch over my surviving mum through heavens open door....
I try to tell her that angels protect me forever more.
I know that doesn't help her or ease the burden she bears
So if you get chance go visit her and show that you care
For no matter what she says no matter what she feels
My surviving mum has a broken heart that time won't ever heal.
U CANNOT SEE OR TOUCH ME BUT I`M STANDING NEXT TO YOU .TEARS CAN ONLY HURT ME YOUR SADNESS MAKES ME BLUE .BE BRAVE AND SHOW A SMILING FACE .LET NOT YOUR TEARS SHOW THROUGHT .I LOVE YOU FROM A DIFFERENT PLACE BUT I AM STANDING NEXT TO YOU.
